Ralt RT-1

RT1Mystery RT-1. It is seen here at wet and windy Kirkistown in May (fitted with a Chevron B42 nose following an argument with the barrier). This car was fitted with a V6 at some stage. It was owned - but never run - by Jackie Harris before moving on to Jeremy Bouckley. At some stage in the past it was fitted with a Cicale CanAm body.

What sort of RT1 is it? Atlantic, Super Vee, F3 or even F2? It doesn't appear to have any kind of chassis plate...

RT1.3A close up of the front bulkhead and suspension of the mystery RT1. It looks a bit different to other RT1s I'm familiar with. It lacks the second set of top wishbone pick-ups on the tub. All of the inside of the tub is painted black.

RT1.4Another veiw of the front of the car. Is this "narrow track" front suspension? The front roll-over hoop looks different too. Although not currently fitted, this car has provisions for two main fuel tanks.

RT1.1It is fitted with an FGA gearbox and some of the biggest brakes I've ever seen on an RT1. The heavyer style cast top crossmember is fitted and parralell lower links rather than the tubular crossmember and reversed lower wishbone of Mk9 box cars.

The radius rods are anchored inboard at the front but the original style outboard mounting points are on the tub.

RT1.F3.1A nice F3 RT1 with a nice history at the Nurburgring last year. Note the tea strainer...

RT1.F3.2The best place I could find to spectate was up near the old 'Ring. Even then I needed a forty foot telescope...
